Onion Rolls
Serving Size: 12

Ingredients:

Cooking Directions:
-------- ------------ --------------------------------
=== DOUGH ===
1 1/4 cups water
1 egg -- beaten
2 tablespoon butter
4 cups Robin Hood Best For Bread
homestyle white flour
2 tablespoon granulated sugar
1 1/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/4 teaspoon Robin Hood/SAF Perfect Rise Gourmet Yeast
=== FILLING ===
1 cup chopped onion
1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Dough: Add dough ingredients to machine according to manufacturer’s
directions. Select DOUGH Cycle.

Filling: Saute onions in oil until golden. Remove from heat; let cool.
When dough cycle is complete, remove dough to floured surface. Cover and
let rest 5 minutes.

Reserve 2 tablespoons of onions for topping. Knead remaining onions into
dough, adding more flour if dough becomes sticky.

Divide dough into 12 pieces. Shape into balls. Place on greased baking
sheet. Sprinkle with reserved onion mixture. Cover with tea towel. Let
rise in warm place (75 to 85 degrees) until doubled (30 to 45 minutes).

Bake at 375 degrees on lower oven rack for 15 to 20 minutes. Cool on wire
racks.

This recipe yields 12 rolls. (For 24 rolls, simply double all
ingredients.)

Comments: It's time to pull out the barbecue and prepare for a season of
delicious grilling. Juicy steaks; grilled vegetables; hamburgers; hot
dogs. With so many tantalizing possibilities, Robin Hood is delighted to
bring you a savoury recipe for Onion Rolls -- the perfect complement to
all your BBQ favourites.

Simply prepare the dough in your bread machine using our Robin Hood Best
for Bread Homestyle white flour and Robin Hood/SAF Perfect Rise Gourmet
Yeast. From there, add onions, shape into rolls and bake in your oven.
It's that easy.

Here's a tip: Shape dough as for hamburger and hot dog buns and bake as
directed. Fill with the usual fare, or make your own gourmet sandwiches
by BBQ-ing your favourite veggies -- red and green peppers, eggplant,
zucchini, mushrooms -- then serve on toasted Onion Rolls.
